Friday - December 11, 2009 - 7:30 pm - Tucker'd Out
Tucker'd Out is a collection of three brothers in music - Jeff "Petey" Petrik and John and Lynn Trelstad. They may have "been around" awhile, but their passion for great music and great lyrics just keeps getting stronger. Although they listen to and appreciate a wide range of music, the music they perform - with acoustic instruments - fits somewhere into that mixed-breed Americana, bluegrass, traditional country, folk, roots and blues category. Flat top guitars, upright bass, mandolin and harp (as in harmonica) are fun, but so are the two and three part harmonies in virtually all the songs they do. Aside from having a great time (which they take very seriously), their mission in music life is to give voice to performers and songwriters who deserve a wider following and routinely urge the audience to check out those lesser known musicians and storytellers.
Be prepared to hear music you've not heard before…as a new Tucker'd Out fan exclaimed one night, "You guys play music I didn't know I loved!"

Thursday, May 7, 2009 - 7:30 pm - Eric Taylor
Lyle Lovett: "I'm always the opening act when I'm around Eric. I love his voice, and he has a great narrative quality and sense of detail. He sort of takes you out of your own reality and into the reality of his songs. It's good writing no matter how you cut it."
Steve Earle: "He's the real deal. Eric Taylor was one my heroes and teachers when I started playing around Houston in the early 1970s."
Joan Baez: Eric Taylor....a very gifted songwriter. It was a high point for me performing "Strong Enough For Two" with him at the Newport Folk Festival. Hope to work more with him."
Acoustic Guitar Magazine: "If there's anything better than Nanci Griffith or Lyle Lovett singing an Eric Taylor tune, It's Taylor singing it himself...he's one of those songwriters that has the ability to plop you down in the middle of a story or a situation and make you care that you're there."

Friday, October 16, 2009 - 7:30 pm - Drew Nelson
Every generation has its poets; the writers, musicians, and lyricists who capture the spirit and longings of their time. Those who give expression to our own personal memories and dreams as though they know us. They tell our stories, giving us the words we need to celebrate or let go. That is the soil in which singer/songwriter Drew Nelson has been toiling. Legendary songwriter John Gorka said "Drew's songs sound like the rest of us feel. His characters are anything but defeated. They are dazed, angry, amazed and climbing."
Expect Drew to be fully energized by his summer European tour. His new album 'Dusty Road to Beulah Land' is doing quite well there and getting .
In addition to giving back to us through his music, Nelson is involved in many community-based efforts to educate the next generation and make our world a better place to live. He lives what he writes. One of his favorites is Kids Food Basket. KFB feeds 1600 kids suppers in his home town every day! 365 days a year.
Friday, September 11, 2009 - 7:30 pm - Bill & Kate Isles
Bill Isles' songs are down-to-earth poetic reflections of life experiences and often explore adventurous metaphorical worlds. He returned to performing after a twenty-five year hiatus in February of 2000. Since that time, he has become one of the most highly-respected singer/songwriters in the Minnesota acoustic scene and is also getting national and international attention. His love of life and command of language has strong roots in his childhood, but his urgency to tell these stories comes from an experience in 1993 when his heart stopped beating. After being defibrillated, and before the doctors had time to detect and open a blocked artery in his heart, he made a commitment to himself that, if he survived, he would begin to write again. Those paddles restarted his heart in more ways than one… Bill & Kate's harmonies are smart and playful.
